I forgot that I don’t like to knit chunky chenille yarn and bought some before we went on a little trip. Ugh. So as not to waste it I crocheted it into a baby blanket to add to the stash for babies at church.

It’s not my favorite. I will try to remember this in the future. At least it was fairly quick.

I had started another blanket a little while ago, making granny squares. It’s a reasonably good portable project because you can take just one skein with you at a time, if necessary. Eventually I had enough (I figured 4 colors and cubed it, so 64) and crocheted them together. I was close to finishing while we were gone but I lacked just a little of one color. Maddening. I finished it when we got home.

The border was done in single concentric rows of SC, done without turning the work, and only working into the back loops. I forgot to take a photo of how it looks on the back, but it has a neat and tidy effect. The front looks like stacked rows of narrow braid.

We are expecting a few more babies at church and all of the ones we know about are boys! Again! I keep running out of blankets and socks suitable for boys. I hope someone has a girl soon!
