I was a godmother to a mother and daughter several weeks ago, and a couple weeks later we celebrated a marriage blessing for the couple. I put on a more Latina decorating cap and made the crowns and candles with “lots of flowers, ALL the colors!” as directed by my new goddaughter, lol. She was quite happy. The crowning was the same weekend that we celebrated the Nativity of the Theotokos so it was BUSY. As a result, I just made a large cake for a small reception after, using my old standby, the BHG yellow cake mix and hand-made buttercream. My goddaughter also requested strawberries and blueberries as garnish.
