I’m knitting baby socks today after the news that a friend is expecting a boy! I already have something else for her but I wanted to add a pair of socks.

This is one of my go-to patterns for baby socks. (Note: it’s free!) It’s quick and intuitive and I can add easy variations. For instance, I always use k2p2 ribbing instead of k1p2. Sometimes I continue the ribbed pattern along the top of the foot instead of switching to stockinette after the cuff. There are no calculations involved, just continuing the pattern on the same needle.

I’m doing the decreases for the toe now and will finish it pretty quickly then start the second sock. I’m using Paton’s Kroy sock wool and size 2 bamboo dpns. (I always use bamboo dpns for socks because they’re light and don’t tend to slide out when you don’t want them to.)
